Loctite blue for apex seal side pieces?
I ordered a set of OEM apex seals, and I had assumed they would come with the side pieces already attached, but they came separated. So now I need to figure out how to attach them during assembly.
Here's what the engine workshop manual says:
Anyone here have experience with one or the other, or something else?
Here's what the engine workshop manual says:
Apply thread locking compound to the attaching surface of the apex seal and the side piece and affix them.
So do I just use loctite blue? I looked up the heat resistance on that and it withstands up to 300 degrees F. Superglue withstands up to 180 degrees F. Obviously the engine will get hotter than either of those, but I saw a post on rx7club.com where someone opened an engine where he had used superglue on them, and they were still stuck together.Anyone here have experience with one or the other, or something else?

Superglue - unbelievable....I have to believe the reman plant uses something more in line with a compound like a metallic epoxy (JB weld type)

I would have guessed JB weld to be too temperature resistant. The goal is just to hold them together so they don't bind against the iron or housing during assembly, right? If I'm not mistaken, you want them to break apart once the engine starts up.
