Well I searched and I searched but could not find a similar issue. Last week I shifted into reverse to park my 8 and could not get it out of reverse!!! I checked the vehicle to see if I hit an obstruction or perhaps digged the wheels against a curb well everything was clear. I called the dealer and he claims that this has never happened and told me to rock the car and if that doesn't work Mazda towing service will pick the vehicle up. I decided to give the car a push to see what would happen and heard the transmission adjust and hopped in the car immediatly and was able to unlock reverse. Since this issue has arised it is not the first as I have been doing multiple checks. It seems that reverse will lock up every once in a while and only when im at a dead stop. If it locks up is all I have to do is give the car a push and it will unlock. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I had this happen in 6th gear but not reverse. It was able to get it out of gear and move lever around, but it was stiff. I then took the car in for service

 

What was the out come?

 

Transmission was rebuilt. Not by my normal dealer. They said my warrenty was now void on the transmission due to abuse. I just had my regular dealer verify this and they could find no record of this from Mazda.
