Laminar flow to reduce intake turbulence?

Remember that air is elastic. While there may be strong pulses from the intake ports closing and opening within the manifold runners, at the maf and the filter the air is only flowing one way. It's speed through here actually remains fairly constant. It is constantly speeding up, slowing down, and changing direction within the intake runners.

Alright time for a layman question... From the description I'm visualizing the mod as consisting of a pack of straws placed after? the MAF. Does the shape of each individual passageway matter? It seems like a bundle of straws would necessarily include both circular cross sections but also the irregular hyperbolic-ish cross sections between straws, not to mention the passageways between straw and intake wall.
Are flow rates actually the same between the circular and other-shaped passageways? If not then why should laminar flow be assumed?

maybe this isn't such a bad idea as i first thought it was (no offense)... look about 3/4 of the way down on this page http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/about_tvs3plus.html
The airhorn in the stock intake box does have a screen across it (i believe its just a screen if i remember correctly and not a flow straightener) so if you can find something similar to the apr piece that would fit in the screen location I'd say go for it. If you go that far you should also probably replace the stock accordian stlye intake tube with some smooth silicon tubing or you probably won't see things improve much.
