SSP 77 is an 8yr/100k mile Extended Engine Core Warrant. If you fall under these conditions, you will pay a couple hundred. I've herd on average it is $200 - $300. I paid around $170 for some external gaskets, fluids and some other bs like bolts.

The SSP Documents are attached for reference.

Hey - I never received my DVD....

Same. No charge whatsoever. Included new plugs, oil, oil filter, and coolant too, according to the receipt.

So eyah, new engine in today. Making some weird sound which I'll post about elsewhere.

But for the record: Garden City Mazda - awesome, service manager john was very friendly and helpful. Even though I had all my service records, they never asked for anything. Last year I went to Mazda 112 in medford (I think?) and they were SUCH a hassle, and I'm almost positive the engine was below spec at that time. In any case, I wouldn't recommend them. Garden City mazda, on the other hand, was awesome.

Also for the record, my compression test beforehand was:
front rotor: 5.38 6.01 5.61 @280rpm
rear rotor: 4.98 5.78 5.65 @280rpm

This is WAY below spec.

Now I haev to endure keeping it below 4000 rpm for a thousand miles!

hey I'm curious, how was your approach was at Garden City? Did you ask them to run a compression test on your dime and if it failed they would warranty the motor?
