Ambient temp missing from dash - tips before I pull out the multimeter?

'04 GT

Last week I noticed my ambient temp was completely missing from it's spot on the far right of the dash display. It wasn't intermittent or giving false readings, it's just missing entirely.

I've experienced this once when I forgot to hook it back up after removing my bumper support but I definitely haven't done anything like that in months.

I reached inside my bumper (stock) and unplugged it and plugged it back in with no change...

So, before I pull the bumper off, is there something I should check first? I have a multimeter at the ready and I'm sorta OK with using it should I need to check voltages or resistance.

Thanks guys.

Doh.. don't I feel dumb. I don't think I've used that button in 4 years. Except of course when I must have accidentally pushed it earlier this week...

I'm mad now.. why is that button even there? It's only purpose as far as I can tell is to turn on and off the temp. LOL

I've asked Mazda that same question several dozen times, usually to the air somewhere above my head while driving.

You can lump it with the "oil pressure gauge".

with the auto climate control, it cycles between the outside temp and the inside temp, so i, being the only one in north america with the full auto climate control, push that button a lot.

i think it also toggles between victorian temp and celsius?
