Not a "newbie" and have been doing tremendous research on rx8club.com (VERY HELPFUL) through previous post searches in regards to exhaust. Cannot find what I'm looking for, so HELP please.

Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is replace the muffler and tips with either Magnaflow or Borla, but everywhere I look/research (here and OEM sites), the accompanying pictures show no "intake" to the muffler, only the 2.5" outs to the tips. Magnaflow could not help me in "what works on an RX-8" when I called.

I don't wish to spend $600-$1000 on a complete exhaust system. Just minor salt in only 2 winters here in WI has started corrosion issue. Looking for the minor HP gain, but mostly doing this for appearance, sound, and stainless steel longevity. If I need full exhaust, leaning towards Borla over Magnaflow.

Any suggestions/comments/input? All are welcome...

Found the muffler.... Magnaflow.... turned sideways as opossed to current muffler, then just attach mandrel-bent piping... new tips and I should be good to go....

 

Ya thats what I was going to do but the shop was full of a bunch of idiots and they couldnt get it too work right. So I just had them take the resonator out and add 3.5" magnaflow tips. Louder and looks better for about 190 bucks.
