intake modification and tuning

hi i tried searching this but no suitable results...

1. I have sealed the resonance chamber that is located on the side of the accordion hose section with great success.i then noticed that there is another chamber under the maf sensor and i would like to please know what this does as it appears to also be just a chamber not linked to any piping..is it a second resonance chamber and if so can it also be sealed or is it directly related to the maf sensor?

2. the solenoid valve switch...does it control whether the vfad is fed vacuum to make it open and close and if so are you able to then get the same results as capping the pipe at the throttle body side just by the position of this valve?

thank you in advance.

.
By success do you mean you sealed it and ....... now it is successfully sealed ?
Re the other chamber .... can you post a pic of what you are referring to and why you want to seal it off.

hi thanks for the speedy response..
basically i have noticed and increase in throttle response after sealing the resonance chamber..
i did however notice another opening under the maf sensor and was wondering if that is also a resonance chamber.
as far as the solenoid valve goes i was just wondering y capping with a nipple at the throttle body is necessary if the valve can be adjusted to leave the vfad open?
i did turn it accidentally when i had the box apart and the after reassembly i drove to the next city on the freeway and noticed a lot more throttle response in 6th gear and also more aggressive tone...

You should just return it all to stock . Seriously.

"Increased throttle response " is a claim made for every mod that was ever done to an RX8 .

its cool!
im just trying to find ways to get a little extra out cause being here in south africa it isnt easy to find mechanics that work on rotary engines and its even harder to find aftermarket anything and ebay doesnt have the best reputation so i have been playing with the intake from the duct all the way to throttle body by looking at various threads and picking up what i can to best understand this system..i have gone thru various designs racing beat aem typhoon etc and read what each has discovered about this specific intake system with its screens etc and i have in the feel of the vehicle definately achieved a better breathing system than i had at completely stock however i try my best to understand what i am doing and to make sure that the changes are not harmful...the vfad mods caught my attention but i have only seen threads that describe pulling the pipe and capping it but i dont understand why do that if there is literally a switch.

The thing is ..... you would be hard pressed to convince anyone that your mods have done anything worthwhile without some kind of experimental proof . And your butt "throttle response dyno" is not something to be relied upon.
Keep reading and learning ... you will eventually figure out the things that actually make a difference .
