Installed new airbag light still on??

I installed my new airbag in the seat on A-pillar and the lights are still on, on the dash. Do I just need to have a tech use a scanner to turn the light off and that wouldthen make them active again? I know in my mustang that I had I put in a new air bag deployment box under the dash and I am not sure my RX8 has this little box. I am hoping that by turning the lights off with the scanner tool that the tech's have this will allow them to be ready for use again. Any one know this answer? Help if greatly appreciated.

Remove the negative cable from the battery for a few minutes to clear the PCM. If the intial problem has been resolved, the light should not return. You will have to do the DSC calibration routine after reattaching the cable. See the owners manual for the simple procedure.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the RX8 but what is the DSC calibration routine? I tried the negative terminal disconnect and the light still showed back up.

The airbag light or the DSC light? If the airbag light is still on there apparently is an un-resolved problem with that system. You can clear the light momentarily, but it will return until the problem is resolved.

For the DSC light, like I said, calibration procedure is in the manual. But since I'm feeling particularly generous this morning, I scanned the page for you.

I believe it has to be cleared with a scanner (the airbag light)

the DSC calibration routine is a separate function, it will calibrate itself eventually, just quicker using the routine
