Exclamation I Need Your Advise!!! Help!

Hello all,

I took my car for service yesterday 3/24/08 because my car wouldn't start. The service deparment told me that there were too much fuel injected that caused carbon in the spark plugs and of course it flooded. They told me that the TRAILING SPARK PLUGS need to be replaced and they are charging me $56 per piece! As you already know everyone who owns 2004-2006 RX-8 received a mail stating that there was recall for "Too much fuel may be injected at the time of engine start causing carbon to be deposited on spark plugs or plugs may be flooded, causing a difficult start condition. In addition, the catalytic converter may be degraded on some vehicles" and Mazda dealer will reprogram the PCM to include the latest calibration. In addition, they will all repair or replace, SPARK PLUGS, engine, and catalytic converter. I took it for a service while back when my car didn't have any problems, but now I'm having this problem. My point is should I be charged with the Trailing Spark Plugs, not leading spark plugs as well as induction fee?

Can you guys give me a feedback?

Thanks,
Dong

what year and how many miles do you have on your car? Did you ever have the "Crank no start" TSB performed?

If not, show this to your dealership: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...5-08-1883a.pdf

If your under warranty take some print outs of the TSB and show them you got *****. If they still say no call Mazda Corporate and the Stealership will get owned.

First, the recall and engine no start TSB will replace ONLY the leading plugs, not trailing as far as I remember.

Most dealerships will try to rip you off, u can get leading plugs online for around 10 bux each shipped, trailing around 21 something shipped.

U can tell them to just replace the leading ones, ur car should start without problem, or u can make them a deal say that how about u get ur own plugs and they install it, make friends with them, that shouldnt be too much of a problem.

They said that trailing plugs have the problem. also Mazda should've stated in the letter with more description about the spark plugs. They said that Spark Plugs will be replaced if necessary.

if u want to save time, u can order everything thru Sparkplugs.com

20 dollars each, u need 2 leading and 2 trailing, then its about 5 bux shipping to anywhere. So yes the total will be about 85 bux.

if u're a cheap *** like me :P , then u can save a few more bux by searching the plugs online from ebay and stuff.

I went to sparkplugs.com but they are about 35 a piece. Mazda service told me that they will replace the leading spark plugs free of charge, but what I don't understand is why they are charging trailing spark plugs. Also I talked to the service advisor today and he said that it cost $100+ per piece at their dealership, but i went ahead and verified with part department that it cost about $56. I need the spark plugs right away and I tried to order online at mazdatrix??? which cost about $35 as well + 1 day shipping = $100 minimum... I rather buy it at the dealership and pay $18 more for it :\ Man those service guys are shady.

Read the DIY on spark plugs. If you can not do it pay the dealer or a friend.

Here's the scoop.

How are you going to get it home when its flooded?
