I'd be more concerned with oil temps and not water temps. The water just helps cool the engine down which in point, is really attempting to cool the oil down. The end goal would be for cooler oil to be run so I'd think if you ran water through the oil coolers instead to cool the water down more, then that's possibly like shooting yourself in the foot since you just made oil cooling even worst..

My oil temps got to about 220F max on a hot day of hard charging canyon driving (300 miles) but I have a 28" Fluidyne oil cooler.
I want to know about the single side cooler though. I really like the concept of that second rad in the oil cooler.
Used water hose and hooked into the overflow tank circuit . It really does work well - true story ....

Could you describe this "sealing up of air leaks around radiator" for me? I live in Austin and I can relate to the epic heat we see here.

Antifreeze cools the housings. Oil cools the rotors. You need both and should ignore neither with the oil cooling ability to be at least 1/3 of your total cooling. Obviously the radiator accounting for the other 2/3. This doesn't necessarily mean size but rather heat rejection ability. If the radiator has a fan, the oil coolers should too. If everything is done properly, oil and water temps will stay within about 5 degrees of each other with up to a 10 degree differential under extreme use. If the oil temps get farther away than that, the oil cooling is inadequate. If the water temps get higher than that then the radiator cooling ability is inadequate. If they both stay near each other but they somehow hit 250*F, both are inadequate. If you can only get temps up to 200*F then both have plenty of capacity. You get the idea.

Mazsport is out of business and the scumbag who ran that company also makes the fan kit which is also not available. Just search Mazsport, you will learn a lot, haha.

Well, everything I have read says 220F-230F sustained is pushing it. What are you oil temps in that situation? I'm on my third motor, and no warranty, I worry.
Bingo. You're not going to get anything lighter than the OE hood anyway.

As hot as I've seen mine get, I beg to wonder, why they didn't add the 2nd one. It would be the 1st time one would have to think, JDM FTL.

Actually I think it is more like all of them got 1 oil cooler EXCEPT for USDM which got 2 .
