how to get the broken maf screw out?
yes i know i fudged up
the maf screw broke off in half, i didnt even try to overtight it, i was trying to get it back out and it broke...
anyway, i took the tube to some auto place and they said they cant do it and suggest i go visit some machine shop.
question is , is that true ? if yes how much would it cost ? is it even possible to get a small broken piece like maf screw out ?
or i better off just buy some small drill bits and try to drill it out myself ?

how far down is it broken? stock screw or for an intake?
a drill bit is going to have to be crazy small to get in there. i don't think there's even a back out bit that'll fit in there.
maybe a high pressure air hose from underneath.
or, just rip it off and buy a new maf.
how did you break it anyway? too many muscles?

how the hell did you do that NY?!
got a picture?
Normally I would say take a drill to it but if I remember correctly, that is a tiny *** screw.

I think Im screwed
I got a new hks intake from CRH (just for the hell of it)
the MAF screw was the one that came with Mazdaspeed intake. I totally forgot that its a tiny *** bigger than the original stock intake MAF screw(thats why they give it to you).
I was about to finish the install, MAF was the last step, then I got over excited and tried to force that screw in and .... I was like hmm wait, holy ****, then I tried to back it out but it was too late. the one of the head broke off.
I took it to a machine shop before, he tried to remove it but then failed, it was too tight, and there is no space there to drill.
so yep, Im fucked
Original MAF screw on order coming in tomorrow(I lost the original one), Gonna do it the ghetto way ------------------ TAPE THAT **** !!!!
Will post pics up later ... just let me feel sad for a while cuz I screwed my 500+ bux purchase with a tiny *** screw that probably worth less than a buck ...

Wait. On the oem intake (which is what I have) is it the that square piece with a weird tube going into the top of the intake and only has 2 small screws?Or is that the Vfad?

Might sound crazy, but try using a strip of sandpaper over the broken bolt.
Then use your finger to push down and turn counter-clockwise.
The idea is for the sandpaper to (hopefully) have enough grit to latch onto part of the bolt and you'll be able to spin it.
As long as its not too tightly installed.
