Question How do we figure out how much fuel is being used at a given time?

Okay, the title of this thread may seem a little stupid, but I believe this is a new question (or at least I haven't seen it before).

With access to the CAN system, we can determine the AFR and rpm along with other items of interest, too.

So, by using the data we pull from the RX-8's computer, how do we figure out the fuel being used? Something like fuel/minute or something similar would be good.

Then, given varying driving conditions, we could determine the EXACT fuel usage at that point. Following that, various experiments could be performed, such as setting the cruise control at 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, with and without A/C, with and without windows open, etc.

Has anyone done this? I'm thinking that with the AFR and the amount of air coming in, this could be done, right? Any further thoughts about it?

Yeah, like that! Funny that I was just thinking about it and barely two weeks before it came up for (probably) the first time.
