how long do u think it might take to do so and what header should i buy... from what i can tell the header dont really do much but i figure the more flames that fly from my exhaust the cooler and i want a deeper sound

Not more than a couple of hours if it's your first time.
Short tube headers don't do much, tuning helps but they still provide minimal gains. Racing Beat sells affordable ones, around 500$ or so.

You'll find that a header isn't going to give you the sound you're hoping for, unless you like it raspy and ricey (especially with your current exhaust). You might as well keep it cheap and get the obx header. Based on your sig, it will be a perfect match.
Good luck finding a rotary tuner in SE indiana for your dyno tune.

Sound quality is the least of his concerns, as long as its loud, and he gets noticed.

I'll bite cause im in a good mood...
Easier on a hoist if you can.....remove midpipe, passenger side motor mount completely( need an engine stand to hold motor up), undo air pump hardware if you still have it, undo bolts on the manifold ( 6)......
At this point if you jack the motor up and move the header it should come out. It helps to move the motor up and down to free the maniflod....It is even easier if you remove the bolt on the top of the drivers side mount...but make sure you have the engine supported properly
Re-install all the crap Good to go

There actually is a good Rotary guy in the area. His name is Chris Ludwig and he races rotary cars. He has built and tuned many High HP rotary cars in the area. He might not be able to tune with the cobb thou. I know he usually uses Haltech on the cars he builds.

well as for the parts i have i got them for free with a cheap deal with my dad so not complaining... i would like to have a greddy exhaust and aem intake

well when it comes to rotaries he knows what he is doing. He does other tuners too. I know He did some work on my buddies FD and it had a HKS tuner on it. That made a reliable 400 at the wheels. I would venture to say he could tune with a AP. He can build a stand alone EMT I would think he could tune one that piggy backs onto the factory system. The OP can send me a PM if he wants to know the name of the company that Chris owns and I will give him a link.

please re read post and you will see the word tune....also the ap is simply the preferred tuning method amongst forum members here but is not the only option...This thread has been derailed quite a bit to a bash fest, lets get it back on track. Without any knowledge of the Chris Ludwig's background with rotary engines it is nothing like saying Eric Meyer is an option up in Indy because he used to race RX8's

He said GL finding a rotary tuner in indiana. I was stating that in fact there is one. Feel free to look up LMS-EFI on fb or on the web. Look at his work for yourself. He tunes with alot of different things. I would think he could tune with a AP. I'm not sure if he still does but he use to race a FC in SCCA.
On a side note I don't know who the eric guy is you all speak of. lol

My reading is fine.
The OP said he was going to buy an AP. He would therefor be looking for a tuner that tunes with the AP. I know there are other options out there. I doubt the OP is going to drop the coin to go standalone.
Without any info on Chris Ludwig (other than what's posted), he isn't an option. Well not until we know if he's done it, or is willing to look at it. Just like Eric Meyer isn't an option. Just because Eric and his team built, tuned, and raced rx8's doesn't mean that he could or would tune one with an AP either.
I'm sure that Chris could use the software and do a tune, but if he doesn't have experience with the tuning software and the car in question, it could be risky. As we've seen many times, the renny and it's ecu aren't like previous rotaries and other rotary builders and tuners have fallen on their face with it.
If i'm spending the coin to dyno tune, i want someone with a proven track record with my car and the tuning option i've chosen. I'm not going to pay someone to use my car as a guinea pig while he figures out a software that he's never used along with a flash tuner that he's never used.
It's worth a call to Chris for sure. Do your due diligence OP and research what your options are before spending money.
caidoz: Eric Meyer is XOWII racing. He used to race RX8's in the Continental Tire Challenge Series. He's a wealth of knowledge, but doesn't post much here as he's moved on to another car and series.
Now that i've tried to clear up what i was saying, i'll leave it and the OP be.
