Help with screws

So after I wash my car today, I notice that for some reason, my front undertray is hanging a little low. I take a look and I can see where there used to be screws holding it up. I have no idea where they would have went or how long its been like that, but does anybody have any clue what size screws and washers are used to hold that thing in place. Im not very savy when it comes to stuff like this so be kind.

Is there another screw attached somewhere else on the undertray? If so, take them off and match them at HD or Lowes.

Yea, the only other two screws holding the rest of the undertray in place. I can just unscrew em in the parking lot i guess. Thanks bro. I dont know why i was too dumb to think of that.

dude, I have the same problem. I tried looking for them at Pep Boys, Kragen and other auto shops but can't seem to find a good match. I also tried Home Depot but still no luck. Can you do me a favor and let me know if you find some and where you can get them. Am still trying to look for a match and would definitely let you guys know if I find them.

Thanks

I did the same thing. Pulled a little too close to a parking curb and sheared them off. I think that's what happened anyway. I didn't find an exact match but was able to find something with the same thread pitch. The screws I used were about an 1/8" longer but was not a problem. The other difference was that the flange or built in washer or whatever you want to call it was a little smaller. Didn't seem to have a problem.

Maybe the parts department at your local Mazda dealer?

Those same fasteners were missing on my car and I noticed it the first day I had it. When I went with a friend to pick up his RX-8 I checked for the missing fasteners in his car, and they were missing. Both cars came with the front spoiler which was undoubtedly installed at the port. My guess is that the installers were not provided with the proper fasteners and so they just left them off.

My point is, if this is a fairly new car and you hadn't looked carefully in that area before now, the fasteners were probabably not there when you purchased the car. If that's the case, take it back to the dealer and have them install the proper fasteners. I did it myself with speed nuts and screws I picked up at my local hardware store because it was a 2-hour trip to the dealer and back.

yep me too

We've only had the car a few weeks and I noticed them missing this past week. Must be a QC problem - I didn't/don't have the spoiler, just 'stick'.

Dealer wants over $4.50 EACH!

Lowes - # 10 self tapping 1", also get some 5/32 fender washers.

They do shine if you are far enough away from teh car to see just underneath - I'll prolly put some black paint or tar on them to hide them.

I think the dealer sells most of these parts in packages of 5 or 10...that's why they are so expensive when they pull up the part #'s

I got three bolts for mine the other day ( bigger than the ones you are missing) for $1.80
