Unhappy HELP Possible water damage

Ok heres what happen I am on my way to my girls house and when i turn the corner the intire street is flooded from on end of theside walk to the other. I didnt want to drive through it but i had cars behind me and i couldnt go anywhere so i drove through very slow. when i pulled into her parking lot the entrance was really flooded to give you an idea, as i pulled in the water almost stoped the momentum of my car going foward I felt it shake back. I parked were it wasnt flooded and that was it. at night i go and turn the car on and it took extra long to start then it would rev extremely slow. I started driving it home ( which was a big mistake) The car started smoking through the ac vents you smelled alot of burning. At one point I heard some metal clang and it felt like someting flew under the car. now the car is sitting inmy house it still turns on with the same problem (slow reving) I was wondering since im new to rotary engines what type of damage am i looking at? Please help thanks

The answer to your question should be simple.

Mazda's warranty is for backing their product, that under normal circumstances the car and its components will function for a given amount of time or mileage. When you put the car into a circumstance that is not normal, like driving through obviously large amounts of water, you are at fault and not the equipment / Mazda. Your car did not put water onto itself, you drove the car through the water. Had this been something like your water pump broke and caused damage, then yes Mazda would fix it. But you drove the car through the water and caused the damage, so Mazda will not fix it.

If you file an insurance claim, you will have to at the very minimum pay your deductible, but also realize that similar to home insurance, not all car insurance companies / policies of those companies fully protect against water damage. I believe the statistic is 20-25% do cover it, so cross your fingers and open your wallet.

I am sorry to hear about your car having problems though & understand the circumstances that caused you to do it, overall it's like getting into an accident - you really can't do anything about it at the time and just get raped afterwords.

you are such a moron, who gives a **** ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU WHEN YOU KNOW THAT IT MIGHT **** YOUR CAR UP. WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO? SHOOT YOU?

Now,

You made the mess, fix it yourself. period.

What u can do is :

Park it under some BURNING HOT SUNNY DAYS, open all windows and vents. Pull the battery, let that sucker "BURN" and dry. put the battery back on, take all spark plugs out and crank the engine see if any "water" stuff comes out. if it does, crank it for a bit, replace all 4 plugs and try to start again, if it starts, lucky you. if it still doesnt, tow it to a dealership and tell them "Hey I cant start my car~~~~", see what else they say. dont say 1 FREAKING WORD about the flood.

My gut reaction is don't tell Mazda you drove it into a flooded street. I don't know if that's good advice though, I'm not going to be your conscience.

tip for next time

One way street, big puddle, people behind you and nowhere to go. Turn off the car, open the hood.. and pull the big relays. Call for a tow.. puddle avoided.

I'm just telling you what I would have done. I like my car a whole lot more then I like people who happen to be behind me.

We all make mistakes and I really hope the dealership fixes it for you under warranty.

as far as the block, you can't really hurt a rotary engine by flooding it... in fact the rotary engine was first designed to be a water pump.

But the electronics are a whole 'nother picture.

LoL. You think the dealer isn't going to notice when there's water in your intake, transmission and muffler and god knows where else? And we just had a storm that drowned many many cars, including my roomate's, but not mine, cause i know better than to say "it'll probably be fine", we had several backup plans in case the water came higher. And you destroyed your car because you didnt want people to honk at you? In miami thats going to happen, people are idiots down there. If the street is flooded... DONT drive into it. What if a tree fell into the road? Are you supposed to ram it and move it out of the way? Also your black rims looked much better than the silver ones.

Thats why I told him to open everything up and "BURN THAT SUCKER" under direct sunlight.

all water will be gone within hours. then he can start trouble shooting the car.
