Adding DSC to non-DSC rx-8
Ok, please don't flame me.
I did not really feel needing DSC when I first bought my 8 nor feel needing one now.
It just so annoying that the elder ladies in the house said that I need one since I am young and seem inexperience from their point of view. (May be I am ^^)
They talked about this since NBC news (or what ever) reported that DSC might up to 80% save teenage driver and should be in every car. Now they start talking again because my cousin just got a car with DSC and drives in snow with no problem. My argument is I leave in SF Bay Area where there is no snow, not even heavy rain. They say I might need it just in case some people cut right in front of me.
Any chance to add one to my 04 6-mt base rx-8?
I love 8 and I dont wanna trade it for just newer year coz I have a lot of DIY mod in.
(Also no $, just quit my boring job. need $ to feed my 8 )
Note that I never race my 8. I always drive safely.
But I still redline it every day to keep Renny healty.^^"

DSC is something that has just started out in average cars a few years ago. I would think most teenage drivers have accident due to distractions while driving, not due to weather. The DSC on the RX8 doesn't seem to help much in the snow. Nor does the traction control.
The RX8 is a car with fine handling and brakes. Being cut off shouldn't be a problem. The biggest limit on the car is the driver. If you wish to improve yourself, go to an entry level autocross school. They are mainly put on in the spring. An autocross event will help you learn how the car will act during aggressive maneuvers.
When I bought my car, I wanted the base model w/o DSC. I wish I could disable mine permanently.

DSC is a safety device. Like seatbelts and airbags. In an emergency, it can help keep you alive.
The best way to keep yourself safe though, is to not drive like an idiot. All the safety devices in the world aren't going to help you when you enter a tight turn at 70 mph, or whatever dumb **** you might be trying to accomplish.

A lot of mods? Your sig is:
Time Line of my 8______________________________________________
2004: Stock
2005: Stock
2006: Stock
2007: Stock
2008: Still Stock
so if you wanna trade up, anything you've done you could probably swap over easily. But your best bet is trading. But probably not worth it. Chances are, if you get wrecked, DSC would not save you. It CAN, but unless you drive like an idiot, chances are you're going to get hit by someone else.
The DSC is pretty nice though, impossible to break traction with it on, but it hasnt stopped me going off the road a few times anyway. My advice to you, dont worry about it, drive safe, and study harder in english class.
