Mazda "SOUPs it up" all ready. You can spend a thousand and get 10-20 horse power maybe! Some people have spent the money and say all they got was more noise and have gone back to stock because of "CEL's"(check engine lite) problems. A rotary engine would be helped by a Turbo or Super charger but again it's a little trickier then a bolt on kit and will set you back about four to six(or more) thousand to do it correctly. How deep are your pockets?

Ehh, I have coilovers, exhaust, some interior lighting C.F. hood and I love my car more than ever. Just stick around on the boards, read some interesting mod posts and figure out what you like. I prefer going for the "more expensive, authentic" parts, but there are basically COUNTLESS mods you can do without any problems at all, as long as you get them done right. The only CEL I've had is from a MAZDASPEED C.A.I. that came with the car... useless Mazda parts I tells ya!

As in the word SUPER?

I'd say a common place to start is changing the Intake and Exhaust. This may not get you TONS of extra horsies but it'll be fun to do.

I'm fond of chicken noodle myself.

The truth is, theres not much in the way of mods you can do that will make your car more powerful. The 8 comes pretty wound out from the factory. Unless you want to drop 5000 on a turbo kit, and god knows how much in labor having it installed, you're not going to get massive power gains.

So you're down to looks, sound, and handling.

Buy some decent tires (shitty tires will make the best car drive like crap. Yes a set of 4 is going to cost you $700 or more. Yes it's worth it.) A short shifter (if you've got a manual), A sub, Check out shazbots puddle lights. they're sweet. you could get the mazdaspeed exhaust and make your car louder, Or install a cold air intake and worry about driving through puddles.

My advice is to browse around this site more. Lurk a lot, check out peoples installs. find stuff you like and figure out exactly what you want to do with your car.

Once you know what you want. Do it.

Welcome to the cult of the rotary.

this thread is making me hungry.

Alright, back on topic!:
I would think the first question is what exactly do you wan to improve on the car? Is your car a Manual Transmission or Auto?
Do you want to change the looks?
improve permance? (more horsepower)
or are you looking to improve things like suspension.

We can offer suggestions based on what you're looking for, just need to give us a bit more info.

Also, how much are you willing to spend?

new driver as well

Hey guys, first off i'd like to say i recently got in to an accident after only a week of having my 05 rx8 "gt?" and the breaks are weak. I also have my abs light on indicating there's a problem however, not the point. I slammed this guy after he cut me off and hit his breaks and the engine with all of its beautiful sub parts are spotless, great job on body protection, truely. What my question is because i am new to the rotary engine and driving manual all together, I usually by the sound of it shift at 4 however as i read on i keep hearing that it can rev and is suppose to be revved high, so my question is would it be okay to get my speed up and rev it to the 7,8's on a regular basis, safely? also, i know the car is fast, i can see that by flying off with the tires screaming in first gear, however, whenever i shift and i'm attempting to speed up quickly in third or fourth gear i just can't seem to get up there it's like all the power goes out the window, I know pushing in the clutch and slamming the gas is obviously retarted and won't make the engine fly but is there anything i can do to really make the car put its power to use while trying to speed up in the high gears?

when you are in a higher gear and you want to go faster you need to downshift. an automatic does that for you... automatically.

try this... go 70-75mph, put the car in neutral, rev the car to 7.5k and quickly shift into third. thats called rev matching.

dont kill yourself.

the 8 doesnt have much low end torque so you need to use all 9k+ RPMs to quickly accelerate
