Help Interpreting Compression Numbers
Help Interpreting Compression Numbers
I'm looking at buying a 2004 RX-8 MT with around 30K miles. I had it inspected, as suggested here on the forum, including a compression test. The dealership provided me with a report showing the compression numbers, and said the engine had good compression. I placed the numbers into 2 of the calculators I found out about through this website, and seemed to get 2 different answers. I wondered if you'd take a look at the report (attached), and tell me what you think. From the report, I take the numbers (compensated to 250 RPM) to be:
Rotor 1:
693
710
692
Rotor 2:
700
736
720
Am I interpreting the numbers correctly? If so, are they OK?

Those are kPa values. The standard is 830 with a minimum of 680, a chamber difference of 150 and a rotor difference of 100.
Those are good numbers as Brettus suggested but are trending towards the minimum. They are way better than my current '04 engine.
