Has anyone tried using the QTech electric exhaust cutout?

After looking at the underside of this newer car, 40th anniversary edition, I am wondering if anyone has had success installing an electric cutout for the exhaust anywhere positioned after the cat. A search yielded nothing.
Thanks!

someone had the badlandz electric cutout.

he dyno'd 10whp with the cutout open. so its roughly equivilant to a catless midpipe. downside is that it dumps straight after the exhaust manifold, so it sounds horrible. the upside is that you can turn it off, unlike a midpipe.

a catless midpipe is good for 10 hp?!? Idk, I have read that intake and full exhaust only gets you about 10 hp..... or less.

people don't realize how raspy and horrid the rotary sounds at low and mid rpms without the exhaust system. Cutout without a turbo doesn't sound useful especially since they end up leaking.

Thanks for the info. The electric QTech exhaust cutout, essentially a Y pipe with a butterfly valve that opens from an electric motor, to by pass the rest of the exhaust, has been used on thousands of cars and I have never heard of it leaking. It uses top end materials,
I agree that it would have to be mounted after the cat, and that would likley only allow maybe 5 AWHP, if the oem muffler inhibits that much HP/torque (guessing on the values there) An un-muffled rotary is a terribly loud but wicked sounding screamer. But considering the price of the Qtech cut out , in any size 2.5" - 3+",
I thought it would be a deal, to use on those occasions where the extra freed up HP would be useful. But since no one here has ever used it, there must be some drawbacks.

5 awhp?

since when did you get all wheel drive in your rx8?

if you are going to get a cut out, put it before the cat, and open it when you really want to scream.

after the cat you'll get 3whp, maybe.

10whp is for a 3" catless midpipe alone. add 3whp for a 3" catback and maybe another 3whp for an intake. still not a lot of whp for the money.

Yeah, absolutely no point in putting it after the catalytic converter. All you are going to do is make noise. Put it before the cat and at least you get a little bit of power with the noise.
