TX Gutted cat now what

I had to gut my cat cause it clogged up it caused all kinds of problems which I fixed one by one but I do believe my gutted cat is a problem itself it is either running rich now or lean and now I am wondering what do I need to to my O2 sensor to trick it or just get my car running like it should.

... So you gutted your cat, not knowing the actual cause of the problems you were having? And now you want us to advise you on how to fix your car while providing us literally zero information?

You don't need to do anything to the O2 sensor, the downstream one doesn't control mixture. The wideband upstream does but without any info or explanation of the problem, it's hard to say anything conclusive.

And if your car now smells very rich all the time, then yes, a decatted rotary will do that.

1) Fix the actual problem
2) Get a new cat.

all the problems I had I have addressed and yes I clogged the cat caused by misfires fixed the misfire and gutted the cat I do believe I might have another problem I think it might be my alternator but wanted to eliminate all other possibilities and I have owned this car for 17 years longer then most people on this forum I have been through a lot of work and heart ache with this car I am no noob but I do not have car friends to help me so the attitude of buy a new car or whatever is being said I do not need it I just need some insight because when I am doing something to the car I have not done before it helps to get imputes from others that have done it before and you can see I do not post much here and I can almost promise I have owned my rx8 longer than you

Likely the cat died from not only the misfire, but running rich. Typically the traditional failure is the mazda coils only last 30k miles and die out. Causing poor combustion and clogging the cat. So the first path is to replace coils, plugs and wires.

Otherwise cheap fixes everyone should do is to:
  • clean your MAF with MAF cleaner.
  • Check for vacuum leaks, mazda likes to use alot of hoses! Which tend to go brittle and crack. Smoke testers are really cheap.
  • Clean your timing sensor
  • Do ECU resets like disconnect your battery for 10 mins, key on pump your brake pedal until the oil pressure blips.
  • Check coolant and oil for any contaminants (Gas shouldnt be in either)
  • Do a compression test, which tend to go on sale every other holiday or so on rotarycompressiontester.com

What makes you think its running rich?

List all the symptoms please. Codes too. Less emoting, more facts.

And, as a general rule in life, not just here in the forum: people than use even some punctuation get better results than people who do not.

Why make it harder for people to read your request? What you make more difficult, you get less of.

I understand you want help but you're not giving us a lot to work with. What were the codes? What were the solutions? It just up and dies? Cold or warm? Have you had a compression test? Any mods? Why do you believe it's running rich? Have you checked O2 sensor data and fuel trims?
