So are they saying high rpm driving is *not* normal ?

I think this car(Engine) was designed with High RPM operation in mind.

this sounds like some pure dealerships BS to me.

I do tons of high RPM shifts and none of my gears grind.

1.8 quarts of Redline MT-90 will help. I would try changing your Trans fluid if it is the original.

i changed the oil 200miles ago

i changed to RP about 200 miles ago but it was grinding well before that
TeamRX8 that is their defense but if i am going up a on ramp in second or third and level out and go into fifth it grinds or if i am in fourth and about 6000 rpm then it grinds but you feel it not hear it

Mine grinds if i want to skip 2 gears at once. No idea why. It doesn't grind going gear to gear or skipping 1 unless you are being a real ******* to it.

I just took mine into the dealer for this, fifth gear grinding.

Mine happens when I rev at 6K+ and shift from first or second to fifth. A nice grind happens even when my clutch is at the floor.

The short story is my dealership is amazing and im getting the fifth and sixth gear syncros replaced under warranty.

i'm with team. since the dealer can't get it to happen, it's not guna be replaced. especially if it only happens at speeds over 100. unless you want to take a tech for a drive and show him...

LOL, I took my 8 in due to grinding while shifting into 3rd and 4th gear at high RPMS, a service guy at Towne North Mazda here in Dallas told me they couldnt replicate the problem, i asked if they went above 5k rpm and he said NO because they were afraid of getting a citation from cops and that its not normal driving. i was like, are u freakin joking! Ur a bunch of idiots! I then took to Hancock Mazda and told them of problem, 10 days later i had my car back with both 3rd and 4th gears replaced (i have 04 6spd). I had them install Exedy stage II clutch while the tranny was out. DO NOT SETTLE UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS ADDRESSED, it all depends on the dealership. Its sad really, but thats the reality.

Hmmm, I had this happen in my previous car too, (Honda Prelude) . What I started doing was to try to match the revs while the car is in neutral before I put it into fifth if I'm revving hard from second gear. Say you're at 9000 RPMs in 2nd gear so you're already going over 60mph (faster than most speed limits if you're not on the highway) and you've had enough fun so you want to put it into 5th or 6th gear. Here's what I do: push in the clutch and pull it out of 2nd into neutral, release clutch while car is in neutral, wait until revs drop to about 3k, push in clutch again and go into 5th. This way the input and output shafts are matched and the synchros don't have to work so hard.

There should be NO grinding. PERIOD. If you are convinced it is mechanical and not from your driving style, then something is wore out and it needs replaced. I thought at first it was my driving but the problem got worse and worse and it would happen every time i got on it in those gears. Get to a reputable dealership.

How soon we all forget about the crummy clutch pedal bracket and failing spot welds.
