Standard dino oil is Castrol GTX 5W20

Synthetic is under debate for the engine.

Definitely get synthetic for the tranny and diff.

A lot of the information is new, too. There was a recent thread on filters. The OEM Mazda filter ran rings around the name brand mass market filters.

Dealer has been changing my oil (freebie for the first two years) and uses the Mazda filter. That's what I'll keep using. I top off with Castrol GTX 5w20, and will keep using that for changes after the freebie ends.

Make sure you find the DIY info on getting the original factory filter off.
