Use only GL-4 rated oil in the transmission
- Redline MT-90 is probably the most common.
- Mazda's OEM fluid is also good
- Eunos is preferred by many, but harder to obtain
Use only GL-5 rated oil in the diff
- Redline 75w90 gear oil is one of the most common
- Mazda's OEM fluid is also good
Side note: We do not recommend Royal Purple gear oils in the RX-8, far too many cases of failure after a few thousand miles.

I was recalling that Royal Purple is GL-5, and that causes the problem with that, but maybe it's just something that they do, and it's GL-4 or GL-5.
Either way, I would still recommend sticking with one of the known good ones. Still looking...

Thank you very much for the help popped to Mazda today got the oem stuff...quicker and can't go wrong hey!
On another tangent I'm meeting someone tomorrow to buy a k&n typhoon intake (short ram) anything I should check out before handing over the cash £150 to be precise.
Thanks guys and anyone in the Kent area?

The Europe subforum would probably get more direct local answers.
On a side note, the K&N Typhoon is one of the worst intakes for our car, worse than the stock intake. You WILL be down on power, down on efficiency, might have CELs, etc...
The only 3 better than the stock intake are Racing Beat, AEM, and Mazdaspeed.
Check out my modding guide in my thread.
