Gas gauge being weird
I started the car up with 2 ticks above 1/4 and decided to fill up on gas just up the street, put in 3 gallons worth and it went down to 1/4 then went up to half way point 5 mins later. 55 degrees outside if that's a factor at all? This normal?

Get is checked, I had this issue years ago and it left me stranded on the highway because I thought i had a 1/4 tank of gas but it was really empty. Mine was related to the saddle pump in the tank.

No. Premixing never clogged my fuel filter. My fuel pump assembly worked fine, I just replaced it to put in the BHR fuel pump because mine had over 110k on it so I figured I would replace it before it failed. That was when I noticed the gunk on the filter sock, but it still worked fine even with all that build up. I actually cleaned the sock and still have the whole assembly as a backup in case anyone in SARX needs one in a pinch.

Hmm I just drove 36 miles from and back and filled up 6 gallons from one forth at 70 degree weather and everything seems normal now, the fuel gauge went up right away when I started the car and was at the normal tick when I put the correct amount of gallons in from the forth. But I'll have it checked out by Mazda

The gas gauge on this car is odd. It is my believe that the exhaust pipe which runs between the saddle tanks will heat up the gas and show different readings then when tank is cold by a tick or two. Add this to the pumping of fuel from one saddle tank to the other and it is definitely not linear.
