The gas cap holder thread(s)
I know, I know... you're thinking... another thread about the holder??
With a quick search about the less than stellar gas cap holder, I came across these threads:
Yeah, it has been posted before, so why did I start a new one?
I have a 2003 build date I bought new and after all these years I finally gave in and decided to make something that will last and can be forgotten about. No half-assed ghetto fix with wire, velcro or some other way that I'll have to mess with later... so, I made one with delrin on a lathe and stainless nut, bolt and washer:

There has to be a few people that might want one and if I can help the rx-8 community out, then it makes this thread worthwhile. Work has gotten slow for the time being, so I have some free time and I figure if you want one, just pay for material and shipping... ~$5 and you'll never have to mess with it again.

Actually that is one of the coolest little up-grades for someone to come up with. Its kinda like "the straw" something so simple yet so very useful. Although a couple questions remain. How much torque and horsepower does it produce, and would it be safe on a forced induction vehicle?
I just used this one...
$10 on ebay including shipping:

Gas cap screws perfect into it, no metal to rust, and made of teflon (making it chemical and fuel safe) and nothing dangling that can hit the car if the door accidentally gets bumped.

...after doing a few back to back dyno runs, HP gains were negligible. However, this little mod now makes the car a true 50/50 balance.
This is highly recommended for FI, when filling up with your favorite VP or Sunoco race gas and even that controversial E85... the experience becomes almost magical.
All those that want that extra bling under the gas lid, I'll polish the stainless bolt for an extra $.02 (no, not really)
Group buy? That's a great idea! That way I can pay vendor fees for something I make nothing on, sweet!
Of course, if you have pictures of your mod... please post them, as large as possible.
If, you really want one... PM me.

No way Jose... this is premium German-American craftsmenship, made right here in the 'ole USA and engineered none other for the almighty rx-8!
I might have to go back and edit my previous statement about the HP gains...Does this, or does this not say fast?

GTAW, are you sure it's safe showing all of the parts for this mod? I can see 'offshore' copycats flooding the market with these and only charging $4.95......
BTW, this is a great idea - if only it wasn't $25 by the time it got to Canada - sigh.

not knocking your idea its looks like a really good solution for finding a place to put your gas gap, but why not just put it around the clip that holds the door closed. I circled it in the attached pic
Nicely done, but I have an even simpler and cheaper mod.
In Oregon we get to wait in the car while our gas is pumped, and the pump jockeys can't be trusted to actually use a gas cap holder even if it is there. So, I just removed the tether entirely. Then they have to set the cap somewhere where it won't roll away, so they set it on the pump. I'm not worried about them losing it, because if they do they have to buy me a new one.
It's worked well so far...

...old news guys, next time read the one of the several links on the first post. It mentions doing that in about every thread.
I like things to be purpose built and easier to use. With the amount of gas I pump into this car, little things like the holder make driving the car that much more enjoyable. After years of using the spring for the gas lid, hanging onto it or even just letting it hang against the car...this cheap holder has become my fix.
