ok so this is what it says for gap, what exactly does this mean, where is the " sweet spot " to gap plugs at, i have the laser iridium plugs from fluid motorsports.

i don't wanna have to pull these bitches out twice if i dont have too lol.
ill check back in here once i get the car on a jack and the wheel off.

You can't "gap" the current RX-8 leading plugs (no ground bar) and shouldn't bother with the trailing.

iridium plugs should be the OEM NGK's, correct?
If so, no gapping at all required. Just install them

thats what i ended up doing. thanks jedi now i just have to " de-flood " and hopfully this solved my problem, my old plugs were pretty bad.

I can just hold down the gas pedal and crank it, correct? instead of pulling fuses etc..

thanks, i'll be ding this soon as the battery is recharged. -10F for a week + being flooded and unstarted for a month = no battery left haha

Be sure to crank it a few times without the plugs in to get all the fuel out or you'll end up ruining the new plugs also.

A NA engine should have a gap of 0.048in and when you replace it in about 30K miles it will be at about 0.049in.

i cranked it for about 10 seconds with the plugs out, and ive probably done it for a good 30 seconds since i put everything back in, im giving the battery one last full charge and im going to go for the goal hopfully lol

ok well i let up on the gas just for a second, and it almost cought, but i think i need to keep cranking it with the gas pedal to the floor, apparently there was alot more gas then i had anticipated lol

would hooking up a jumper cable to another running car give me a better ammount of " cranking " time, rather than just recharging my battery for 2 hours everytime it dies?

Stop torturing your battery. You need to improve the compression. About 15CC of the fluid of your choice into each of the 2 intake manifold "nipples" should help your starting attempts. I used motor oil when mine flooded -- per shop procedures. Some people use ATF. Be prepared for lots of smoke.

Or, you could get a push-start.

battery is toast anyway, soon as im back at work car is getting a new battery, i just cant afford to go drop $100 on a battery right now lol ( im laid off work for winter )

besides, its snow and ice here, in order to get pavement a push start would work on i'd need to push it 10 or so blocks, to somewhere with heavier traffic.

and im stuck in a steep driveway. lol doesnt leave me many options, i might have to pull the plugs again, and crank it a few more times, see if it helps.

Well I gapped mine due to one of these DIY and it gave me moar power. Now I am back to a new set ungapped, it is slower now. I think I will throw the old set back in. Muahaha!

I am kicking myself in the *** right now, it FINALLY started, ran for like 2 seconds, and then i dunno if its because i gave it gas, or because i didnt give it gas, but it died, and reflooded.. *cries* lol

i re-confirmed the plug wires were properly plugged in, and in the right order.
I know it runs now, so it must just be a flooding issue? and not a blown motor, but, I'm sure it hates me now, and its probably flooded horribly now.... blaaahh

YES!, hahahaaaaaa got it. the car is a whole new monster now.

the ignition must have been **** since i bought it, its revs TOTALLY different.
