Thumbs up Found a great source for new battery terminals

So the '05 RX-8 I just picked up has some pretty ratty stock battery terminals. I looked into new ones from Mazda, the positive terminal is around $26 and the negative is either not available separately or is NLA.

I'm REAL picky on this kind of stuff, I don't want a parts store terminal that fits poorly, doesn't have a good connection to the main harness, and I do NOT want to use a 3/8" socket or some jazz to remove it. Should be standard metric fasteners.

Found this -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P6G9NZH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P6G9NZH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

$14 for an OEM-style positive and negative terminal. Fit the battery properly and use real 10mm bolts to tighten up. They also look very similar to the stock terminals.

They aren't exactly the same as stock, the positions of the tightening nuts are different but that seems to be more of an aesthetic thing. Also the nuts that bolt it to the harness are 13mm socket size but are metric thread, I'll swap those out with 12mm nuts .

I prefer not to use Amazon being opposed to both their political and business practices, which are not in the best interests of a free, democratic society. What appears to be the cheapest price can often have a hidden cost that money cannot compensate for.

I posted this back in 2007 maybe and it still applies today, more HD and will never need replacing.

Those are nice but I can tell they aren't going to be metric. Again, it's my pet peeve but that's good for a lot of people out there .

they’re not, but they also aren’t going to stretch and become loose either. The clamping bolt could be likely swapped for metric, but in all honesty it’s not like you’ll be taking them on and off often. So when you say you’re particular and picky, I suppose it just depends on what your priority is. It’s not like your RX8 is going know the difference if it doesn’t have metric bolts on your battery cable connections. These clamp down and won’t come loose; ever.

Of course, you can choose where to buy and what to buy. We’re all picky in one way or another, or not. I do apologize if my original comments came across as harsh, having posted them up without the luxury of time to choose my words more carefully.

so I looked around and it appears if you insist on metric they’re pretty much going to come from overseas. I see a lot for sale in the UK. Which those terminals linked in the first post are most likely coming from China, but through Amazon; a company that won’t think twice to sell out America for an extra $1.00 in their pocket. Your choice.

thanks for the recommendation. Installed those recently they look very sharp in the engine bay.

Not sure what the effects of nickel and brass terminals are as they’re about 25% the conductivity of copper. But car starts fine. No long term reactivity between the nickel plating and stock copper connections?

edit: metric socket works just fine on the nut n bolt.

Probably referring to the metric threads of the terminal posts.

I've switched to this wedge type, I like them a lot.

I bought O.E. repalcements off of ebay a couple of years ago. They came as a set and ran me about $20. They're holding up well and they fit and look nice.
