I finally found what was causing the cricket type squeak in the cockpit. It is the rear view mirror. When I squeeze the mirror top and bottom just to the right of center the squeak goes away. It went away for the last 10 miles home today but if it comes back at least I can show the tech what it is and get a new mirror.

and it comes and goes as it wishes

 

Yep. Same thing here. I just give the mirror a quick lil' squeeze and it goes away for a bit.

 

another thing you guys might wanna check is the spark plug wires... it coulda came off therefore you coulda been hearing the sparks from the spark plugs that is making that cricket sound...
