Question fitting water temp gauge?

I just got a water temp gauge and was wondering where the best place to put the sensor was?
all the tunining houses in japan fit them in the radiator hose before the thermostat. this gives the water temp after the radiator but only gives engine temp after the thermostat opens.
the other place to install would be below the thermostat in the thermostat housing. this would give the temp of the water in the block (engine temp).

which location is best and anyone know the internal diameter of the radiator hose?

Isn't there an instruction menu from the meter?

The Defi I know for MazdaSpeed RX-8s have it install in the hose before the termostat.

There is actually a coolant temp sensor that can give info to the OBD. You see sco havet he scan that show coolant temp. I wonder how it is different.

Rotarenvy, where are you going to put the gauges. I am thinking of buying oil temp and water temp. BUt one it si too expensive, second I don't know where to put it. The R Magic box (that replaces the smoker's box) is tempting but I have my shift lgiht getting power from the outlet already.

is ther anyway to find out where (or how ) they mount the mazdaspeed gauges (the 3 center consoul ones)? i have all three of the defi gauges....but i'm a lill fuzzy on how to install them i know for the water temp it's just a t fitting you put on the upper radiator hose befor the thermostate, and the oil pressure is a fitting that goes where the pressure switch for the 13b-msp is ...but i have no idea where to get the sensor attachment for the oil temp which goes inbetween teh oil filter and engine block.

i could've sworn i saw someone who had these gaues post a pic on here of the sensor attachment and it looked like they had the oil pressure and oil temp in the same place (inbetween the oil filter and the engine block).

What do you guys think since at the moment you are the only ones who are talking about or seem to knwo about sensor placement for aftermarket gauges?
I also thought that

I might see if I can use the current engine temp sensor or place the new one next to it.

the defi gauges come with a mounting cup and I'll use that for awhile they can be doublesideed taped on or screwed on. I don't want holes so i'll use tape untill I can have a go at making a custom gauge pod up for just over the display in the centre.

there is a thread witht the mazdaspeed instructions in it somewhere. looks like it needs cutting on the trim panels (not for me )

here is the link to the mazdaspeed instructions it's in jap tho.
oops posted to soon wrong mazdaspeed instructions I'll fix it up when I find them

here is a reply about temp sensor locations from ausrotary.com written by rotor_motor
http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/for...ht=temp+sensor
"personally, if I was going to install an aftermarket guage, I would use one of the original sender spots, the small one used in later models on the rear plate, or the large hole in the back of the waterpump housing.

if you put it on the radiator side of the thermostat, it wont read correctly, as when the radiator isnt working hard, such as idle and low power output, there will be little waterflow, so the water on the rad side of the thermostat will be cooler than the water on the engine side (would move hot water into the radiator due to convection even if the thermostat is closed)

also if the thermostyat ever gets stuck shut, you can boil the motor, and because of no water flow, the temp guage will still read stone cold.

for things like temp senders, even though the factory may not use the best quality or most accurate components, sensor position will be close to optimum, especially when using the temp sensor output to trim coldstart fuel mixtures to meet pollution laws.

"
makes sence
