Engine Replaced at 67k

I just had my engine replaced last week. I started my car up one morning and the engine ran real rough and misfired for like 30 seconds then idled and ran fine, but the check engine was on. I brought it to the dealer and they called that afternoon telling me they found coolant in the number one rotary chamber. I was a bit upset at first because I have done all the services and changed the oil on schedule for the last 3 years and do not abuse the car. I started to discuss the issue with them and mentioned that last year I had an issue with my cat and that a coil had failed under warranty dumping fuel in to that cat causing the cat to burn up along with melting just about everything under the car. I asked if the heat and misfiring from this incident could have caused damage to my engine. The service advisor said that it could be a good possibility and that he would see what he could do. He called me back 40 minutes later and told me that they would replace the engine under warranty. Three weeks later I have a new engine in my car and everything seems well. I drive to the Woodlands about 40 miles from my house and on my way home I get another CEL. I brought the car to brillo's house and he plugged his scanner in to the car and we got a P2010 code. We couldn't find the code anywhere on the forums. The part that was the cause of this code turned out to be the APV motor on the side of the intake manifold. The dealer fixed my car yesterday and when I picked it up to my surprise they covered that under warranty too.

First of all, how do they know if there is coolant in rotor #1 ? I thought that dealership are not allow to open any of the engines ? not to mention that most of the dealership techs have no clue about how rotary engine works.

Well, its good that everything is covered under warranty.

Perhaps they stuck a probe in through the plug holes.

This dealer is a very reputable dealer in the West Houston area. They did do a compression check on it and that is how they determined that it had to be replaced. It appears that you guys have dealt with shady dealers, why would they tell me I needed a new engine then talk to Mazda and get it taken care of under warranty when I am 7k out of warranty if they were trying to scam me?
