i just bought an 04 mt rx8 bout 3 months ago and a bit ago the engine light came on. I honestly have no idea what it could be. Ive been using the 93 octane gas and been doin my oil checks and redlining and all that good stuff. soo..any suggestions?ive heard about computers trippin out and all ive been meaning to take it to the shop but i wanna get other suggestions cuz the mazda dealer here is a son of a b.

 

make sure your gas cap is tight...? who knows man, get the code read. doesn't advance auto parts or something like that read codes for free?

Go out and have a nice hard, but safe, driving session. Mine came on right after I bought mine so I took it out to an old runway and did hell to it and it went away...

the engine light came on because something is wrong. my suggestion is figure out what it is and fix it.

I had my check engine light come on once. I checked under the hood and it was still there, so I think I'm good.

the light could mean anything. Go get it read by someone with a CAN scanner.
