engine knocking?
guys, I think my engines knocking.... Its a knocking noise in the engine that starts and stops when it wants. I'm nervous as **** seeing that I'm 2k out of warranty. I JUST changed the oil a couple days ago, the oil was actually a hair above the line. I don't know, I hear a lot about 'pinging', is that what this sounds like? I'm taking it into the shop tomrrow. Any advise please?

What octane fuel do you run?
Do you premix or run fuel cleaners regularly?
How long since Plugs, Coils, Wires?
I suggest a few tanks of Shell V-Power (high-octane and good cleaners) and running a can of BG44k or Gumout regane through it to get started and see if this helps any.
Next would be a Rotor soak (Seafoam).
I would also start premixing with a Lubricous cleaner in every tank such as MMO or FP Plus.
If that does not help - time for a dealer stop for a compression test and intake viewing (for cleanliness) amongst the many things it could be.

I still have power. And the ticking noise isnt consitent. But its coming from the right side of the engine bay by the coils. Any ideas of what the hell is going on?

To me "knocking" and "ticking" are two totally different things.
Knocking is like pre-detonation kinds of sounds - thus my original questions
Ticking is more mechanical, like a lubrication issue, or something else.
If it is on the right, could be coils - bad wires (connection?) - there are so may things, it is hard to diagnose over the web.
If it was me, I would do what I stated above, and also change your coils/wires since you have 40k on them (quite a lot for many), and see where you are then.
Hope this helps.
