engine conversion...
hmmmm.. this thought's been poking me for a while....
you may know there is a 5MT rx8 out there on the sale list.. alone.. forgotten.. never really considered as a purchase...
well, due to various reasons (read restrictions :P ), i had to take it or no rx8 at all (i never liked them AT).
now, i belive i can say my 8 is in fact a 5 speed AT one (bought it in 2004), fitted with manual transmission..... it revs up to 7400 rpm(redline), counter goes to 9000 rpm, 192 bhp versus the 231 bhp of the 6mt one, precisely the same as the automatic one.
here's the question now.. (and pls don't burst in laughter)
what exactly are the differences between the 6MT and 5MT?
because i was wondering.... is it possible to convert a 5MT into a 6MT? and if yes, what would be needed? engine, and transmission/clutch, of course, but anything else?
one reason i'd change it is that there are no aftermarket goodies for us 5MT guys.. no turbos.. no chipsets...no short shifters...
soo.. help? :D

wait wait wait .... are you talking about the JDM version ?
Anyway , here
You cant just "SWAP" a 6mt into a 5mt, it requires alot of changes. and is even harder with AT.
but in short is that, in the end you might find it "better" to just get a "new 6mt" than dealing with all these "stuff"

meh, i was afraid of that answer...
the 8' is caled Challenge. 5 MT... mazda made.. apaprently, there were 2 versions of the MT, a 5 MT and a 6MT for sale once, besides the 5AT. shinka appeared quite a bit later.
most mazda dealers don't even show it..
