electronics working but cars not turning over
hi, im asking for some quick help, please!
for the past 2 days i have had my rx8 sitting in my garage. prior to this my car was running amazing. probably the best its run in a while. there was no particular reason i wasnt driving it, i was just taking a break. so today on my way out the door i get in my car and the engine wont turn over. i figure it because of the battery, so i jump the battery with this dodge ram. engine still wont turn over. so i take my battery charger and charger the battery in my car for over 5 HOURS! still does not turn over. right now im assuming my engines flooded, cause theres no possible way i could have blown a fuse. does anyone have a suggestion on how, and why this would happen? and what can i do to fix it? thank you

Yep, it does sound like your car's engine is flooded.
There's a lot of ways to deflood your engine. If you bought your car brand new, it should have come with an instructional video on how to deflood the car along with other various tips.
The way most people deflood their 8's are by stepping down the gas pedal and clutch pedal at the same time and give it a good crank to clear out all the extra gas in the engine. This usually works 99% of the time.
The other method is the more unconventional way located here in this link: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/how-fix-your-flooded-engine-125600/
Good luck on deflooding your engine!

First thing to try. Remove the fuel pump and circuit relays (this will cut the fuel to the engine to help deflood it), next hook up a battery charger on high, then turn the key on and push the gas pedal to the floor once and release, then crank the engine for 10 sec apx. LET the starter cool for another 20 secs then repeat (remember than one pump of the gas pedal, this tells the PCM that the engine is flooded and not to overfuel the engine). Try doing this a few times (it might even try to start without the relays in....if so reinstall while its trying to start).
After you have tried cranking it a few times (apx 6 times or so)......re-install the relays, do the one pump, and cranks the motor.....if it starts catching FLOOR IT and keep it above 3000rpm for a few mins....it will probabyl smoke really bad.
IF THIS DOESN'T WORK
take your spark plugs out(through the LF wheel well) and clean them off and dry them out. Next disconnect the CKP sensor and remove the fuel pump and circuit relay. Crank the engine with the plugs out (make sure the CKP is disconnected!!!)
After cranking it for a bit you will see no fuel mist coming from he spark plugs holes... at this point put your plugs back in OR even better put new plugs in.
I hope this works. Good luck!

Literally just posted a thread because I got the same engine flooded suggestion's and ****. So I had a mechanic take a look at it. If it's a stick, check behind the clutch. Make sure the plunger tha activates the ignition is at 90 degrees and not bent like mine was. I could push start it before but it wouldn't crank at all after. So check that first.

The general issue is that people don’t communicate properly.
The engine not cranking over and the engine cranking over and not starting are obviously not the same thing, but it not being expressed that way leads to confusion and misleading advice
Just like they can’t even get a sentence or two out without resorting to foul language that serves no purpose except to be offensive. Yet they’re as oblivious to that as the intelligence level that separates and discerns between such things.
