Need Advise on Deflooding?

Hi All,

1. I think I just flooded the engine but I could be wrong, I drove to car on the high way route 13 north in Ithaca, it was a very cold nite (20F), it's a AT one, I cranked to 5-6k rpm to burn out the carbon residue (may be it's a dump idea after all) and took out the exist but I saw the traffic light so I sharply stop the car and ... the car lose rmp rapidly and just shut off the engine .... I tried many times to start up but they won't work and now the battery was dead. Is this a flooding engine ? I hit the acc paddle quite hard to achieve 5k-6k rpm since it was quite a steep hill up on the high way.

2. If it is a flooded engine, please please kindly suggest how to fix it? I prob need another car to jump up on the dead battery.

Thanks!!!!

If it is flooding, you should call Mazda and have them tow it to a dealership to deflood it. You should still under warranty if you're under 100k miles.

I don't think it's a flooding problem though. How did the car sound when you tried to crank it after it shut off?

wait, your engine is shut off when you are in the run ? did you have a working temperature on the engine?
it's flooded when it's cold temperature on the engine, but if it's warmed up already, i think it's hard to be flooded.

Yea, the engine just shut off after I hit the break to stop the car since it's at the traffic light.

1. You guys may right that it may not be the flooding issues since I warmed up the car before.

2. It might be the alternator issue so I will check it out

3. Any mechanic in ITHACA Area that is good with MAZDA ? AJ Foreign, near Wegman ? Patterson near buffalo st ?

4. Any other suggestions ? Greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

If it's flooded and you don't wanna do the spark plugs. And you attempted the recommended deflood. Call Mazda and make an appoitment. THey may tow it IDK if its free.

My car flooded after Christmas. I called AAA towed to dealership and it was all free. Covered under the engine warranty.

1) if it's alternator, then the power steering will fail too and other electrical will be effected.
2)how does it sound when you idle it? rough?

Hey Guys,

It's my stupid mistake, It's not flooding! It's a loose connection (positive connector) btw battery and the alternator. I tightened it up as much as I can, I'll let the mechanic to check it tomorrow if it needs more tightening then. Many Many Thanks for all advises !!!
