What stopper / how are you stopping the SSV tick?

I mounted a stop to the holes where the microswitch would normally bolt on .
If you rotate the ssv while at idle , you will notice the noise disappear at a certain point , just set your stopper to that point . If you look down onto the ssv you will see it is open to approx. the same area as what the bridgeport is.

I was able to make a stopper the right size pretty easily as I had a spare LIM to work off on the bench.

Interesting. I'll have to look at that. Maybe all these people doing bridges now should include that with the motor... lol

A guy local to me has his bridged on both sides , I'm pretty sure the ssv isn't an issue on his ....................

But yeah , if my results prove repeatable , this (small bridge + ssv stopper) might just be THE mod to do on our engines.

BTW , the other negative you get from doing this (gummed up intake) can ,i think, be alleviated by running a high concentration of ethanol.

That's true, but availability and fuel system change over and constant retunning would be the issue.

When we go to the mountains for our big rotary meet every year, there's nothing more than E10 available. In the cities you can get E85 just about anywhere, but I'm not sure I could take the hit on mileage.

That is why I chose E25-E30 range . It still gives good economy ,plus it is entirely feasible to carry enough E85 to add to a tank away from the city.
If you got it tuned to stoich at cruise like it should be , you may get similar mileage to what I'm seeing .

Also, the tune for E30 would tolerate swapping back to E10 without any changes . The fuel trims would take care of the difference without risk of damage . The only situation that is a little risky is swapping from E10 back to E30 as it would go lean at WOT till the fuel trims caught up .
