Easy to replace doors?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has done a door swap where they only replaced the exterior metal shell, and if it was easy. My GT RX-8 has some pretty heavy damage on both passenger side doors, and since I'm trying to sell the car at the moment, I figured I should try to get some of the damage taken care of. I've got the advanced keyless entry, and I was wondering if there would be any problems if I just bought a set of passenger doors and threw them on there... The button to unlock the door is on the handle, which is a completely separate part, isn't it? Otherwise, a door swap would mean your key wouldn't fit, right? My GT model has Bose speakers, so I didn't want to just replace the entire door. So, basically, my questions are: Is a door swap easy? I don't need to get a door off a GT model with Bose speakers and the keyless entry button, do I? Is the door handle is a separate piece? Will I reinstall the same lock so that my emergency key will still work? ... Is it easy? I can honestly say I've never tried taking a door off a car before. The only tutorials and DIY threads I can find only talk about removing the interior door panel, and that DOES seem pretty easy. It's just getting the metal shell off I'm worried about. I'm hoping that I can get a set of passenger doors from a part-out, remove my door panels, take my damaged shell off, put the replacements on and reinstall the door panels. If anyone has any experience with this and knows if there would be any complications I should be worried about, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

unless u want to have another key hanging around, u gotta swap the locks. that takes around 10 minutes if u have the proper tools.

if im only doing the passenger side, that wouldn't be an issue right? Would the keyless entry still work or would I have to swap something for that?

If the door you are swapping out with is not from a keyless entry model you will also need to transfer over the wiring harness from your door to the new door since the donor door will not have wiring for the keyless antenna in the door. You will also have to transfer over the antenna that is in the door for the keyless entry.

It will be obvious once you get the inside door panel off and you are able to compare the two doors.

Anyone can tell me how remove the driver's door wire harness on the driver's door by hinges to the frame? Replacing the door with one from junkyard because mine was damaged in car accident.

There's a blue latch on the white connector that allows the connectors to disconnect. If the latch was properly secured and hasn't vibrated loose, or nobody has dicked with it, then the connector can be pulled into the door jam, unlatched, and disconnected. If that latch wasn't secured, especially the driver side, you'll have to pull the dash to get access to it. The passenger side is tight but can be done under the dash.

Another option is to forget the connectors and remove the inner black door panel (where the door speaker and wires mount), remove the door, install replacement door, attach inner black door panel.

Me and my friend used this tutorial and did this all day yesterday. I have no experience with anything like this but I was still able to make it happen with your great tips!
