E-Shaft nut - how do you get it off !!!!!
No it doesn't fall out, it just falls off the needle bearings and then when you tighten everything back up again it looks like this:

Not really all that good for your engine....

nice catch, always do your homework first ...
and the 150 ft-lbs my engine puts out was enough to shear off the 2nd gear teeth twice even with the tires spinning ... not exactly the same thing but IMO I would not subject thr trans to any more stress than necessary

No homework, just common knowlege for engine builders, I've been doing it for a while now so I cringe when people say they took their front pulley off....
I've replaced a couple needle bearings while the engine is still in the car because of this.
Geez, so these 6 spds aren't all that tough eh? Hmmm that really sucks. I wonder if rebuilding them with all cryro treated internals would help?

Did you check your oil? I'd do an oil change to see if there are any metal flakes in it. The car will run fine, but what happens is the e-shaft will have more endplay and cause bearing damage.
I would think the RX8 front bolt is the same as on the RX7, and in the RX7's case:

Pineapple Racing does silicone sealer around the base of the bolt, and red loctite on the threads. For the rear flywheel nut, I believe it's blue loctite..

Wonderfull how all this great advice comes after the job is done
^ Huh?
Brett, just check your oil and see if you have metal flakes in it and maybe get a prybar in behind the crank pulley if you can to see if you have abnormal end play.
If you do, it still might not be too late to get it fixed. Problem is, that the whole front of the motor has to come apart.

Yes I still have it but it does not leak at all for the street - not one drop .
It only leaks when i'm on the track and the leak is much less than it was before I replaced the seal .
I discovered that the leak gets much worse if my speed limiter is working (jdm limited to 180km/hr) and i'm continually hitting it . Something to do with the surging at that speed .

Sped limiter.

Any one??
180 cut
I'll be in that line too. ...lol... I'm just shocked that no one hasn't done one, as it would be a good little earner for whoever.
Gary walker (mate of may here in Nelson) still sells the speed cut black box that he makes for series 4/5 rx7's, and its just made out stuff he gets from Dick Smith (prob. about $10 worth of parts in it)
Didn't you have one of those HKS SLD"s Brettus??
