Drippy Water Pump
For those who track this type of stuff: took my 8 in today for what I thought was a small, occasional oil leak. Turns out I mis-diagnosed...it was coolant, not oil, on my garage floor. (Sure LOOKED like oil, must have resurrected some old Alfa Milano oil droppings.)
My excellent dealer provided a loaner -- 2003 Mazda 6 -- until the estimated Monday arrival & installation of the failed part: the water pump.
I also reported my occasional off-the-line stumbling and warm-start problems. Looks like I'll get the L flash. Will miss the 'turbo' boost at higher RPMs but will welcome the changes to remove the jerkiness at lower RPMs.
The 6 isn't a bad car...but it sure makes me miss my 8.
Still a very satisfied RX8 owner,
- Eric H, Marietta, GA
PS. -- for those in the area thinking of getting into an 8 or any other Mazda, I highly recommend Jim Ellis Mazda in Marietta.
