down on power......grrr

well heres the issue, have about 38000 on the clock, of an 04, Im experiencing power issues it seems. The car is hard to start, takes several cranks to get her going, once she's going and warmed up if I floor it, around 3000 rpm's it seems like the car bogs, serious bog, like theres a goffer in the intake tract, then starts to pull better around 5000rpm, but still not what im used to....I thought I might need new plugs since its about that time according to the manual I believe, so I pulled the old ones and put some new ones in......same prob....it almost feels as if Im running on only one rotor....could this be a coil issue? I was thinking that it could possibly be a coil issue/plug issue because of the hard starts.....but no change with the new plugs.....opinions/thoughts?..........oh yeah, and no cells

Does it get worse when it is warm, could be the cat, seems like about the right mileage for that. Doesn't really explain the hard to start though, but you have had no check engine light, so maybe.

you would not get a CEL with a bad cat necessarily, you can drive it hard and check if the cat is glowing red.

hmmm, so the cat could cause the bogging huh? and the lack of power, that makes sense if it becomes a restriction.....maybe I'll just buy a supercat, they dont throw cells do they?

Your cat is under warranty 8/80 and your power train too. Dealer should diagnose it for free.

If the cat is glowing red after driving (hard) does that mean its gone? because I've seen that on mine several times, also had id checked at the dealer but they told me it was ok, they looked inside and found no problems.

Dealers test from what I understand only reads the flow at about 4000 rpm. It will not cover high end flow of the cat.

If it's glowing it's going.

PT warranty is 60K miles / 60 months, whichever comes first.

replaced the coils with the mazsport ign upgrade, looked at the old coils and they had burn marks, new coils in and everything back to normal........aka...bad coils
