I use a cut-down old oil quart - it stacks nicely on top of the 'extra' quart I keep in the car

Hmm. They look like snow cone cups with the end cut open. 25 for $1.25. You can probably get them for free in Hawaii. :D
I have used disposable funnels, usually given free when buying a quart of oil at gas stations.

Almost every gas station I've been to give these out free and you don't even have to buy anything
I usually ask for 3 or 4 at a time.
