I got my oil changed at 10,000 miles. Prior to that oil change i was using Castrol GTX, but at 10,000 miles i put Mobil 1 in it. Now when i step on the gas hard(not noticed it moving only because its quiet) it backfires alot. Its not loud. It actully sounds like a puffing sound. Any thaughts on the issue?

i did not say it has anything to do with the type of oil. he has backfiring which means rich . its not the normal richness of the car since he didnt have it before. one reason for richness could be fouled plugs. since its relatively easy to pull and clean plugs he might as well start there.

Unless you have the proper tools--like the sandblaster thingy--for cleaning the plugs, you may, indeed, have to replace them. The key thing is to get the center insulator clean and sandblasting is the best way to do that.
