dealer wants to change my 8's ECU $$$$$

Unhappy dealer wants to change my 8's ECU $$$$$

i have electrical problems from my salvaged 04 rx8, sometimes the car doesnt
start, no crank absolutely no noise from the hood. i itook it to a nearby
dealership and they want $6,000 to put in a new ecu. i want to do it by a different method so What do i need to replace my current one, to a ecu from another similar rx8? help..

salvaged from.... floodwater? a wreck? bad living and hanging out with trannys?

lol.. damage to front left corner... fender and headlight were distroyed but the only major thing was that the frame bent about an inch..

new ECU from a similar car (codes on the unit) .... then just needs the imobilzer reconfiged or eliminated

Check the pins on the ECU connector.

I had that problem with my 8 once after they replaced my Engine, sometimes the car just won't start, no crank, nothing. Its like turning the key doesn't do anything. Tow the car back to dealership. Found out a row of pins on the Engine hardness is not fully inserted into the slot, *connect* and everything is fine. no extra cost.

i want the immobilizer eliminated... is that only with dealership?
