Daily Revving to ~7k RPM
I have heard that it is generally good to take the RX-8's Renesis engine up to ~7000 RPM once or twice everyday (prevents carbon buildup, other things I don't know off the top of my head but have heard before). Of course you would do this once the engine has been running for a little and is nice and warm.
Is it truly good practice to do this? What about redlining once or twice everyday? Or just taking it to 5k RPM?

Even 5k, by itself, won't do any good.
You need a blast of foot-to-the-floor 'redline' wide open throttle to burn carbon and 'clear the pipes'. At 5k the third set of intake ports is still closed.

I specifically designed my drive home from work to incorporate some full run outs of second gear because it's fun. The maintenance benefits of it are somewhat secondary to me. When in a "sporty" mood, my RPMs generally don't fall below 5k rpms. 5k to the Renesis is like a brisk walk.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, I know that the Renesis motor has no problem walking up to 9000rpm, even fuel-cutoff, however, the tranny and clutch suffer right? So, the more you shift at 9K, the more chance there is of wearing out your clutch faster, correct?

Rotary Powered Countryboy
I tend to take it to redline everyday a few times especially if the roads are wet from a redlight just let the tires spin and hold it there for about 5 seconds or so then drop it down cleans the carbon out real good...

This age-old advice is often referred to as an Italian or Tennessee tune-up with piston engines. But rotaries, especially those with side exhaust ports and very rich AFMs, are especially prone to carbon build-up and are especially fun to red line, and high revs are safer for a rotary engine because of the rotary as opposed to reciprocal motion. And if you do wear out your clutch, just think of it as a great opportunity to install a light-weight flywheel.
