I currently have a stock exhaust but with the CAT being fully emptied out. I really do not care about emissions at all. I was thinking of making my own custom exhaust since i do have all the tools and experience needed. The only problem I have is the sound. My idea was to remove that fatass muffler and just have a straight pipe with resonators. How many would I need to keep it from being TOO loud. and what type of resonator is best? No glass packs since they are bull ****. I'm not considering buying a catback or anything. Wanted to make this a nice project. I would also put a Y pipe so i can still stay dual. not a fan of single side exhausts for the rx8.

 

Without a fatass muffler it will sound like ***.

Why don't you just dump it? Just sold my old stock exhaust to another forum member who was doing this mod.

It's cheap, easy, and gives you a slight hp increase using your existing stock catback.

 

That thing costs the same as a catback. and it will sound like ****. All the sound coming from under your car. Any other ideas? Something involving taking out the catback and doing something with resonators? Maybe putting 2 resonators before the tips. similar to what the greddy sp2 looks like but instead of its mufflers having 2 resonators. And as for the midpipe. Should i keep the emptied out cat?

yeah if u neeed an extra stock exhaust when u hate the sound of the resonators let me know i have an extra i might let go for cheap! lol :banghead
