custom exhaust help
 

I currently have a stock exhaust but with the CAT being fully emptied out. I really do not care about emissions at all. I was thinking of making my own custom exhaust since i do have all the tools and experience needed. The only problem I have is the sound. My idea was to remove that fatass muffler and just have a straight pipe with resonators. How many would I need to keep it from being TOO loud. and what type of resonator is best? No glass packs since they are bull shit. I'm not considering buying a catback or anything. Wanted to make this a nice project. I would also put a Y pipe so i can still stay dual. not a fan of single side exhausts for the rx8.

Without a fatass muffler it will sound like ass.

Why don't you just dump it? Just sold my old stock exhaust to another forum member who was doing this mod.

It's cheap, easy, and gives you a slight hp increase using your existing stock catback.

That thing costs the same as a catback. and it will sound like shit. All the sound coming from under your car. Any other ideas? Something involving taking out the catback and doing something with resonators? Maybe putting 2 resonators before the tips. similar to what the greddy sp2 looks like but instead of its mufflers having 2 resonators. And as for the midpipe. Should i keep the emptied out cat?

yeah if u neeed an extra stock exhaust when u hate the sound of the resonators let me know i have an extra i might let go for cheap! lol :banghead
