if you shut down the engine with 220F at the top radiator hose, the temp will spike to 240F there after shutdown. Now at the spark plug area it is different..............
Now whether this is a concern--IDK .....yet.

That's why it's a good idea to lower the Fan-On temp for all rx-8.

87 Celsius is a must. Don't know why the F Mazda would put it at 97.

09s do have better fan control--but they will still warm up pretty good. We have a couple of guys that track with us. They are faster and they do have a better cooling system. But, they still need a little help, just like the si's
funny thing is I havent seen them use more oil than we do?

speaking of cooling is there advantage to running these cars with water plus redline water wetter over regular coolant mix?

Water wetter is useful only if u run close to or pure distilled water.

For 50/50 mix, its almost useless

the radiator will fit--i didnt know they changed that? What changes did they do?
The fan motors will fit ours, but we dont have the capacity for a 3 speed control. The flex a lite controller helped me a lot.
The water pump will fit but you have to use the S2 pulley with it and it is underdriven
the front bumper--yep fenders and headlights are required.
It would only be off help at speed.

Im not sure what exactly they did to the rad, but i think the what has changed list mention something about it?

I thought they changed the front cover a bit to fit the new water pump?

I might try to get a s2 front bumper and heir related stuff. My headlights are all blurry and im gonna replace it anyway. I dunno

you know --- you may be right about the water pump--although in looking at it it looks like it would fit?
in during the SII front clip install--dont forget the undertray and stuff. The SI won't fit.i

my question was are there any benefits to running our coolant system with distilled water plus water wetter over running with regular coolant..

will distilled water/water wetter combination produce lower temperatures on the track?

The water pump will fit, and works fine. They only moved one bolt to stop people accidentally putting the wrong part on and wondering why the pulley was a different size IMO.

You can either leave that bolt out and let the o-ring take care of it, or just file the bolt hole out to get the new one in. Either works.

Thanks for that info about the water pump. I thought it could fit..

Concerning the coolant question---SEARCH!!
Cooling gets complicated if you take it to the edge. Just keep the coolant temps ( at the upper radiator hose) less than 220F and don't worry about what is in the radiator. Now if you want to run at 220F + for any lenght of time--then it starts to get really complicated. There is a lot of info out there already.

Cooling is a system, every single component work as a team to produce desire results

Distilled water always works better than any eg mix, question is u do need some eg to keep the seals lubricated.

Ww gives u the same lubrication effect. But question is can your other component handle the extra heat.

lots of people run synth, lots of people don't... so at what mileage have people blown their engines? did they use synth or regular? any trend...?

thanks and hopefully someone has some insight.
My understanding is that Mazda has sent an official letter to their techs saying not to use synthetic oil in the rotary engines. Something about the Higher Flash Point of the Oil eats away at the apex seals. Wish I would have known that sooner.

It's in the owners manual and it has nothing to do with flashpoint. Less posting, more searching and reading.

Only idiots or fools would use oil other than what the manufacturer recommends. What does the type of oil a person used have to do with being a *****? Your manners are really not very good.

nycgps is as well mannered as a a rabbid dog but said something true.
Are you aware of the fact that manufacturers have to abide laws?
This means that what they recommend in country A they don't in country B.
****, according to your theory I should service my car once a year or every 12000miles.
