no one against the use of dino oil, its people who use dino against the use of synthetics, that means they against something that they have no prior experience in. (At least for the MSP)
I never had Dino oil in my 8, but I never said no to dino oil use.

In an attempt to steer the thread away from the never-ending debate and towards a more useful "synthetic oil discussion", I reiterate my previous question:
How far have you gone on your synthetic oil?
So far we have:
Swoope: 5,000mi highway
Really good synthetics are supposed to last like 25,000mi w/ regular filter changes (in piston engines, anyways) and is the reason they are utilized in fleet vehicles for significant cost SAVINGS. Has anyone been brave enough to go the distance with their 8? Any technical rotary issues here?

I sorry, but I can't do that. I asked my father the favor to contact Mazda Japan (Powertrain Engineering since he deals with them on a regular basis @ his job),and he got a repply from Mazda, but it is a company e-mail for "internal use only", and I could get in trouble if I disclose any "internal" e-mail communication or any contact address info...

Your contacts are NOT as high up as mine was nor was the info on the subject as detailed as my conversation was. I actually had witnesses to verify it too. Use what oil you want in your own car but please give up the argument against synthetics. You lost YEARS ago!
Since I talked to Yamaguchi-san himself and got an answer that I'm happy with, and I did it in front of a few other forum members, the reply you got is irrelevant because I already know what it says and why it says it.

I am not arguing against synthetics, nor arguing in favor. I'm just telling what I've heard from some guy in Japan, like you tell what you heard from this Yamaguchi-san.
I'm not saying people should not use synthetcs for their rotary. They are free to choose what they feel it's best for their cars.

Do you guys get the "genuine Mazda Rotary oil" in a steel container now ? That's how they have started selling it here now & at the same time put the price up - bastards .
Anyway I figured buying Synthetic may actually be cheaper now than the Mazda stuff so I'll have a look around for a replacement oil . It turns out it is still a bit more for the synthetic 5W30 .
I'm gunna stick with the Mazda stuff because I think it gets changed so often there won't be any benefits to going synth anyway.

Show me just ONE Japanese rotary workshop that doesn't use 100%synthetic oil and then show me ONE Japanese Mazda dealer that doesn't use synthetic oil in RX-8s and I'll cut my dick off and feed it to my dog.
I lived in Japan for two years with my RX-8 and the two Mazda dealers in my area there didn't even have this so-called Mazda rotary oil on their parts lists.
The dealers in Japan use Mobil 1 5W-30, and the Japanese RX-8 instruction manual even suggests to use 0W-20 for best fuel economy and engine performance. Try and find a mineral based 0W-20 for sale in Japan. Go on try.

I've seen the Japanese Mazda dealers use Castrol synthetic. However, I did hear there are some new Mobil-1 oils in Japan, so they may have started to use the newer ones.
I'm on the fence about ester synthetic, as I use Castrol synthetic, but I've seen and heard of their use by famous Rotary Pro-Tuners in Japan. All the Japanese Rotary Pro-Tuners I've seen have used 100% synthetic oil.
If I do go ester synthetic than I may go with Red Line (but will consider the price of other ester synthetics first). I've use the Red Line gas additive, water wetter, and AT fluid and they all worked well. I'm figuring their motor oil just has to be as good as their other products. Motul oil would be another choice and is ester based.

I want to live longer, so I want organic food.
my friends said its a waste of money. eating regular can live till 80, etc.
but I still prefer organic, I might still die at young age. but I want the best for my life. and probably can live healthy till 90.
same thing for my car.
As much as I enjoy using synthetic oil in my own engine, I just may have to accept that challenge! Someone get me a flight to Japan. The dog is getting hungry!
My dealer instructed me to use 10W30, I was talking to a service tech when my 8 was getting reflashed yesterday.
Any advantage of using 5W30 over 10W30? Better gas mileage?

Mobil1's site recommends their Mobil1 Clean 5000 (not clean 25,000). Seems of all of their choices it's spot on...

Well, this debate has been raging for what, 4 years? And in all that time I have not seen a single owner or rotary mechanic who has presented a credible example of a Renesis in their posession that was damaged in any way by any synthetic oil which meets the API specs set forth in the manual.

I only put Mobile 1 full synthetic 5W-20 in mine, per instructions from my friend who is a mazda master tech. He also told me that the engine injects 1 quart of oil every 3000 miles, depending on the driver. Don't take my word on it, I change my oil every 1500 miles. Keep in mind that my car is completely stock. I'm not sure about any power modifications effects on oil consumption.
