Well, since insurance isn't needed, then go buy another RX-8, with a bad motor, and then swap all the good parts from this one into the new one.
BC.

If you have full insurance and someone who isn't insured crashes into you, your insurance pays you out and they get reimbursed by the person at fault (taken to court etc.)
I bought my 6MT RX8 when i was 20 and i lost my licence for drifting when i was 18 (stupid i know, i have changed my ways) and I am FULLY insured.
This guy has no excuses (friends and family not having insurance is a **** excuse IMO)
Please visit we need the tourism
Oh and to say that half the population doesn't have insurance is bullshit. Of all the people with cars that i know, 95% are insured. Take your e stats elsewhere, your giving NZ a **** reputation

That is your opinion, there is a reason why it is not illegal in NZ to not have insurance. And the reason for that is ACC. I understand in US it is illegal if you don't have insurance.
Of course if you damage other people's property you still have the obligation to fix repair or replace. The courts will make the any person who damages other person's property pay.
Majority of the people I know do not have insurance. Even those that say they do, probably don't just to make themselves look better.

I know it's my opinion and I'm allowed to voice it just as much as you are.
But look who's paying the price for not insuring their car?
I wish you the best
