Coolant spits out & Cap attachment broke

Okay , so its been a bad month for my car Im close to believing its gynxed , my mechanic/friend was away for a while and I needed an oil change so I took my car to a local mechanic n basically supervised the entire process , I left him for a second only to find out that he filled my coolant resovour almost to full , okay , I drove off for around 30 minutes with ac on (its was kinda hot 30c ) and stopped at the market n then I noticed that there was a bit of coolant underneath the car , I drove slowly to the nearest petrol station and topped up back to full with distilled water , (cap came off with no pressure what so ever), tank was almost empty but u could still see the coolant inside , once I got back home (another 30 min drive) I checked the coolant , the second i touched the cap the plastic tip where it attaches broke and the cap came off , no steam no pressure nothing , it was down again , this time it took a little more water I filled it up anyway and went to order a new tank with the sensor and cap since my sensor was faulty (I check the coolant myself every Sunday so I thought the sensor isnt urgent) , today I was reading on thr forum that this might be bad news for my coolant seals , my car has around 50,000 km on it , somewhere around 32,000 miles , and I take really good care of it , regular oil changes check ups etc , its the first time it's done this , could it be that my engine is toast ?
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to explain the situation in details .

PS: it did heat up last summer going up hill but it didn't reach 3/4 of the temp gauge , a little above half and the minute I released my foot off the pedal it went down immediately and I just topped up the coolant which was low at the time and till this time it never had an issue , everything started after he topped it up over full

Thanks in advance

Did you notice any white smoke coming out from your exhaust? If you didn't you may just have a clogged radiator or need a different thermostat and water pump. A good way to find out if your inner water seal is gone is to pull both bottom spark plugs one at a time, remove your fuel pump relay to avoid getting any gas in the chambers and your face, and then while you put a plastic bag over each individual spark plugs have someone crank the car... The engine will evacuate anything in the rotor housing so if you see coolant then yup you need a rebuild... Ask me how I know :-(

If the coolant was leaking into the engine from a broken seal you wouldn't see coolant on the ground (it would be inside the housings), and white smoke would be coming out the exhaust pipes.

It sounds like you have coolant leaking from somewhere, and need to poke around and try to locate where the leak is.
